3 Ways You Can Get Your Site Listed On Google

When it comes to getting your website or blog listed on Google there are basically 3 ways to get your site indexed. Four if you count writing quality content, but this should be a given and something you should be doing right from day one.
Google is also getting more selective on which sites get indexed and their search bots are getting smarter at weeding out sites that try to trick the system.
1.       Submit your websites URL to Google
This is one of the easiest ways,  but you have almost no guarantee that your site will even be submitted to Google. Most of those in the know about SEO even recommend you don’t bother submitting your URL at all, even going so far as to call it a waste of time.
2.       Submit your link to DMOZ
DMOZ also known as the Open Directory is the place where Google goes to get listings. This site is managed by volunteers that act as category editors. To get your site listed all you have to do is visit DMOZ and submit your site under the appropriate category.
The catch is that you could be waiting a very long time to get listed. There are sites that have had to wait years, depending on the number of sites in that category and how active the category editor is. You also don’t want to submit your site if it it’s lacking content, you want at least 15 pages on your site.
Another thing to remember with DMOZ is that if your website is accepted or declined you won’t get any kind of notification. It’s a good idea that if your site hasen’t been included after a month to try to email a category editor to ask for any advice to help get your site submitted.
3.       Get links from other sites
Apart from content this is probably the best way. How it works is that you get a link (back links are best) to your site from a website, blog, or any type of web page that’s already listed on Google. This can include sites such as social bookmarking sites like Digg, and  Stumbleupon. Social networking sites like YouTube, Facebook, and Myspace, or any other site that is already listed. When Google crawls those sites they’ll pick up the link and index your site.
It’s important to remember that none of these methods offer a 100 percent guarantee that your site will get indexed. Don’t sit back and hope your site will eventually get indexed. Add content, get links and do everything you can to get traffic and your site will be indexed.
